Engineers from the Moscow Aviation Institute have developed an active gas-dynamic system to protect aircraft engines from debris and dust. According to experts, the development will secure the operation of aircraft for airports with insufficient infrastructure development.
It is assumed that the air for the system will be taken directly from the engine — from the low-pressure compressor (this mechanism also provides air conditioning in the aircraft). Then, through special channels, the jets are directed to the vortex formation zone.
He also noted that this creates an air barrier that effectively cuts off dust from entering the structure. The system is designed so that its integration requires minimal engine modifications.
