Проект «Москвич 8» приостановили из-за разногласий с JAC

"Moskvich" is in talks with the Chinese concern SAIC

The launch of sales of the seven-seater crossover "Moskvich 8" has been postponed again. According to the latest data, the reason was the discussion of a possible change of production partner — instead of the Chinese JAC, negotiations are underway with the SAIC concern.

Initially, "Moskvich 8" was planned to be launched on the market at the end of 2024, then the dates were shifted to February, later — to the spring of 2025. Now the project has been suspended again. The reason for this was disagreements on technical documentation with JAC.

Based on the platform of the Chinese JAC Sehol X8 Plus, "Moskvich 8" was to become the flagship of the lineup. The 4.82-meter long model is oriented to the same segment as the Hyundai Santa Fe and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max. The car is equipped with a 174 hp turbocharged engine, a seven-speed "robot", two multimedia screens and support for CarPlay and Android Auto.

The original X8 Plus has been sold in China since 2021, but demand for the model remains low — about 40 thousand cars sold in three years.
