Geoscan and GLONASS JSC have announced a partnership to develop identification and communication technologies for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Under the agreement, signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Geoscan's drones will be integrated into a unified monitoring system based on the ERA-GLONASS state platform.
The main goal of the collaboration is to create tools that will remove regional restrictions on drone flights and ensure their safe integration into the airspace. According to Alexey Yuretsky, CEO of Geoscan, the combination of satellite and drone technologies is critical for Russia due to the scale of its territory.
Alexey Raikevich, head of GLONASS JSC, reported that the identification system has already been tested in 12 regions and is part of the "Seamless Digital Sky" concept. The implementation of this technology should accelerate the development of unmanned aviation in various industries, from logistics to infrastructure monitoring. The next step will be the development of hybrid communication networks, including a satellite segment, which will expand the areas of drone application in remote regions.
