Yandex has opened free access to its most advanced generative models through the Alice neural network. The technology, previously only available to subscribers of the "Pro" option, now allows all users to solve educational, work and creative tasks: generate texts in Russian and English, create images, analyze files and use the step-by-step reasoning mode.
The key update is the improved language model YaLM (Yandex Large Language Model). According to the company, it was trained on an expanded dataset, which increased the accuracy of responses by 65% using the blind comparison method (SBS). The model is less likely to "evade" complex requests — there are 30% fewer such cases. During peak loads, a lighter version may be activated, which the system will warn about in the interface.
Technological innovations:
- Reasoning mode — Alice visualizes the course of thought when solving multi-stage tasks (for example, drawing up a business plan). Users see the logical chain in real time
- Image generation — works on the updated YandexART model, which creates images with fewer artifacts. Results can be downloaded for social networks or presentations
- File analysis — support for PDF, DOC, TXT. The neural network summarizes the content, prepares reports or glossaries (for example, on scientific articles)
Personalization has been added for "Pro" subscribers: Alice takes into account the context of past dialogues (hobbies, preferences). The exclusive Live mode with object recognition via smartphone camera and access to children's educational quests is preserved.
Updates can make Yandex's AI tools massive. For example, the reasoning mode is useful not only for students, but also for entrepreneurs assessing project risks. Alice competes with foreign counterparts like ChatGPT, but focuses on the Russian-speaking audience and specific local tasks. Free access will simplify content creation, exam preparation and work with documents for Russian-speaking users.
The technology is available on the neural network website, in the Yandex with Alice applications and in the browser for Android. A release in Yandex.Browser for PC and on the iOS version of the browser is expected soon.
