The company STC IT ROSA, a leading Russian developer of operating systems, has presented the ROSA Mobile 2.1 update for the R-FON smartphone and R-TAB tablet. Among the main innovations is the long-awaited ability to record video in the standard "Camera" application and deep integration with Yandex geo сервисами.
The developers had to independently create drivers for interacting with the camera sensor, video codec, and system memory. The lack of ready-made solutions from component manufacturers complicated the task, but made it possible to achieve stable operation of the function even with active background processes.
Each new function in ROSA Mobile is the result of complex engineering work. We write the drivers ourselves, configure the interaction of components and ensure that everything works accurately and stably. With each update, we are increasingly improving the performance of our OS and showing the market that a domestic mobile OS can be not just an alternative to foreign OSs, but a real replacement.
Instead of using foreign services, the developers implemented support for Yandex.Geolocation at the system level. This solution eliminates dependence on foreign technologies. In addition to the main innovations, the ROSA Mobile 2.1 update includes a number of useful improvements. Users can now scan QR codes with automatic redirection to links in the built-in browser. It became possible to delete both native applications and programs running through the Android emulator.
The updated emulator now correctly handles notifications and supports applications that require the absence of root access. Work with external drives has also been improved - the system supports "hot" replacement of microSD and other removable media. The first launch process has been redesigned, tactile feedback has been added when entering passwords, and the design of low battery notifications has been updated.
