High-speed internet to appear on Russian long-distance trains

The trains will be equipped with terminals to receive signals from the "Bureau 1440" satellite constellation

The national carrier "Russian Railways" (JSC "RZD") and the aerospace company "Bureau 1440" will provide passengers of long-distance trains with the opportunity to use high-speed internet. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

The press service of RZD explained that the trains of the Federal Passenger Company (FPC, a "subsidiary" of JSC "RZD") will be equipped with subscriber terminals. The equipment is designed to receive signals from the low-orbit satellite constellation "Bureau 1440."

The company launched three experimental mission vehicles " рассвет-1" in 2023 and 2024, and the same number of " рассвет-2". By 2027, a total of 288 satellites will be in orbit to provide global coverage.
