Fortified facilities began to be erected at the Saki airbase

Reinforced concrete shelters have begun to be erected for Russian aviation at the Saki airbase in Crimea. Footage of the structures has gone viral online.

The images show that the shelters are essentially a concrete box with gates. The dimensions of the structures are currently unknown.

Such shelters should protect against falling debris, fragments, drone strikes, simple bombs, and cruise missiles. These hangars can only be reliably destroyed by specialized penetrating munitions.

Analysts from the "Military Review" publication explained why the strategic aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) at military airfields is not located in concrete shelters, but is based in the open air. Russia and the United States extended the New START treaty until February 6, 2026, despite the fact that its control mechanisms are effectively frozen.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that a new Rodnik 3D radar was created for the military, but it is unable to detect small drones.
