The US Space Command has acknowledged that the spacecraft launched on May 23 by the Russian Ministry of Defense under the designation "Cosmos-2588" was found near the USA 338 military optical reconnaissance satellite.
As of May 31, the American and Russian spacecraft approached a distance of 93.9 km. "Cosmos-2588" follows USA 338 in a slightly higher orbit.
According to information from open sources, after being launched into space, "Cosmos-2588" reached an orbit of 464 x 481 km with an inclination of 73 degrees, and thentook a permanent position at a distance from the American USA 338 military optical reconnaissance satellite (2022-117A).
The Russian side has not officially confirmed or denied this data.
