Tailgating a US spy satellite: Russian "Cosmos-2588" spacecraft is watching Earth's orbit

The distance between the spacecrafts has decreased to 94 km

The US Space Command has acknowledged that the spacecraft launched on May 23 by the Russian Ministry of Defense under the designation "Cosmos-2588" was found near the USA 338 military optical reconnaissance satellite.

As of May 31, the American and Russian spacecraft approached a distance of 93.9 km. "Cosmos-2588" follows USA 338 in a slightly higher orbit.

According to information from open sources, after being launched into space, "Cosmos-2588" reached an orbit of 464 x 481 km with an inclination of 73 degrees, and then took a permanent position at a distance from the American USA 338 military optical reconnaissance satellite (2022-117A).

The Russian side has not officially confirmed or denied this data.
