Night scooter riding will not be banned in Yekaterinburg

City authorities rejected restrictions, despite proposals from deputies

In Yekaterinburg, the authorities decided not to introduce a ban on riding electric scooters at night. The decision was made after city Duma deputies proposed restricting the use of scooters from 23:00 to 6:00.

The initiative was justified by the fact that not all kick-sharing companies complied with safety rules. The deputies were probably referring to the traffic police. According to police statistics, in 2024 there were 96 accidents involving electric scooters. In them, one person died and 101 were injured.

Most accidents occur in the dark. Despite this, the city administration considered that a ban on night riding was impractical.
