Минюст России хочет ужесточить наказание за DDoS-атаки

New measures are aimed at combating cybercrime and protecting financial transactions

The Ministry of Justice of Russia has proposed expanding criminal liability for DDoS attacks. This was announced by Deputy Minister Vadim Fedorov at the XIII St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.

According to him, it is planned to criminalize illegal impact on computer information through such attacks.

Currently, criminal liability exists only for unauthorized access to protected information and for the creation of malicious programs.

Fedorov also discussed the problem of fraud with non-cash payments, which allows criminals to quickly transfer money between accounts. He stressed that the existing mechanisms of law enforcement agencies are not coping with this threat.

The Ministry of Justice wants to suspend debit transactions on accounts for 10 days if they are used in criminal activity. Such a measure should help prevent the withdrawal of stolen funds.
