100 modern single-section "Lion Cub-Moscow" trams manufactured by PK Transport Systems will be delivered to the Russian capital. The first 50 cars will be sent to the P.L. Apakov depot in 2025, the rest in 2026. Thus, the authorities will completely renew the city's tram fleet, said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
The new trams will be equipped with an innovative system of increased autonomous running. Thanks to the on-board energy storage system, they will be able to travel at least 4 km without a contact network, and on average about 7 km.
The "Lion Cub-Moscow" is designed for 150 passengers, with 41 seats in the cabin. The tram has everything for a comfortable trip, including climate control, sockets for charging gadgets, places for strollers and bicycles. Passengers will see information from the Moscow Department of Transport on multimedia screens.
The new "Lion Cub-Moscow" trams will reduce the interval of movement on existing routes and on lines under construction. Hundreds of thousands of passengers use this type of transport every day.
