A prototype of the medium-range domestic aircraft MC-21, equipped with new Russian units and systems, has taken to the skies for the first time. The flight marked the start of factory refinement tests, the press service of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) reported.
On board the aircraft, domestic avionics, air conditioning, electricity, and other systems were tested.
The flight was performed from the airfield of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant of the «Yakovlev» company (part of UAC). The aircraft was in the air for 1 hour and 15 minutes, reaching a speed of 580 km/h and an altitude of 3000 m.
The flight mission was completed in full. All systems, including the new domestic ones, performed without any issues.
Two modified MC-21 prototypes, which were previously involved in certification tests with foreign systems, will participate in flight tests under the import substitution program.
