Multi-Million Dollar Scam Uncovered in Aviation Tool Supplies

FSB and Ministry of Internal Affairs discovered that instead of Europe, fraudsters were buying tools for Il aircraft in China at the price of scrap metal

Employees of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs uncovered a scam involving the supply of counterfeit tools for the manufacture of spare parts for Il aircraft. According to Kommersant, for several years, the Voronezh Aircraft Construction Association (VASO) received Chinese tools under the guise of European ones, which were purchased in China by weight at the price of scrap metal. The suppliers shared the difference with one of the heads of the VASO procurement service and pocketed it.

During a joint operation, law enforcement officers detained the general director of Bamgrupp LLC, Alexey Bogatyrev, the head of the company's tool department, Denis Voynov, the general director and founder of Equitool LLC, Stanislav Martynov, as well as the head of the auxiliary procurement department of VASO, Vladimir Spitsyn, who was responsible for the acceptance of "metal-cutting tools".

During the searches, the suspects had more than 50 million rubles in cash and a fleet of luxury cars, including a Tesla. Investigators opened a criminal case of fraud on a particularly large scale.

All four almost immediately began to confess. Two of the suspects expressed their willingness to enter into pre-trial cooperation agreements.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the characteristics of the new Russian Tango aircraft, which will be mass-produced no earlier than 2027, have become known.
