Aviation expert approved the purchase of spare parts for Russian aircraft abroad: but the engine must be domestic

Such cooperation will not stop the import substitution process

Resuming cooperation with foreign companies will not undermine the independence of the Russian aviation industry and will not stop the import substitution process. This was stated by the president of the International Association "Union of Aviation Engine Manufacturers," Professor Viktor Chuiko.

According to him, for 30 years, Russia stopped producing domestic passenger aircraft in the quantities necessary for the country, which ultimately affected the economy, security, and transport accessibility of the regions.

Chuiko noted the importance of cooperation with foreign companies. The expert recalled that even in Soviet times, some spare parts for aircraft were ordered from abroad.

These should not, of course, be critical parts of the aircraft, without which it cannot fly. The engine, first of all, must be domestic.
