MC-21 aircraft manufacturer receives new building for aircraft production

New workshop of Irkutsk Aviation Plant put into operation

Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAZ) has commissioned a new building for the tooling and die shop, as well as the department of mechanization and automation of production. The total area of the three-story building is 12,811 m², and about 200 people will work here.

The construction of the building took place as part of a project to technically re-equip the assembly and assembly production for civil aviation equipment. According to the plan, the release and reconstruction of several spans of the engineering building for the MC-21 aircraft project are planned here.

In the process of construction, we worked closely with workshop 232 and department 320. We always meet the departments that will operate the building, because they will work here for more than one year, and they understand better than anyone else how everything should be arranged. The transfer of premises to representatives of the workshop and department is underway. To date, 99% of the premises have been transferred.

During the construction of the building, the needs of the departments were taken into account, such as spacious rooms, bright offices, its own compressor modular station, lifting equipment, a meeting room, showers and a buffet.

MC-21 is a domestic project of a short- and medium-range passenger aircraft, which should replace the Tu-154 and the Tu-204 family in the Russian market. It can also be an alternative to foreign-made aircraft.
