Members of the "Valdai" Club Witness Firsthand How Parts and Components Are Manufactured for the Passenger Airliner

Participants of the V Central Asian Conference of the International Discussion Club "Valdai" visited the Irkutsk Aviation Plant.

They personally observed the line for the aggregate and final assembly of MC-21 aircraft and familiarized themselves with the production facilities of the enterprise.

A tour of the plant was conducted for them by the Director of Lean Production, Alexey Kolesnik. Guests witnessed firsthand how parts and components are manufactured for the passenger airliner, and asked questions about the characteristics of the MC-21 and the intricacies of its production.

MC-21 is a domestic project for a short- to medium-range passenger aircraft, which should replace the Tu-154 and the Tu-204 family in the Russian market. It can also be an alternative to foreign-made aircraft.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russia had assembled the first prototype of the MC-21 aircraft with PD-14 engines.
