Alexander Lukashenko, during negotiations with Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin, requested and voiced his desire to build another nuclear power plant in Belarus. Representatives of Rosatom have already responded to the request.
We have taken this issue into consideration. We are waiting for clarification from our Belarusian colleagues regarding the technical specifications — whether an additional, third power unit is needed at the Ostrovets NPP site or a new NPP in another region.
Currently, there is one nuclear power plant operating in Belarus, located near the city of Ostrovets in the Grodno region. The station was created according to the standard Russian project "NPP-2006." It includes two power units, and its installed capacity is 2.4 thousand MW.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a Rosatom enterprise set a new record in the production of zirconium cladding for nuclear fuel.
