AvtoVAZ assembled 13 pre-production Lada Iskra this week. Despite the manufacturer's work on quality, the cars are still far from ideal. On average, each car has 80 defects and does not meet the standards of a production car.
Only a few second-category defects are allowed - these are defects that an ignorant person will not even notice, only a specially trained person can determine them (at VAZ these are quality control departments called PSD and AVIS). There is just over a month left before the official start of mass production, and there is still a lot of work to be done to debug the high-quality process.
The car will be offered in three bodies - sedan, station wagon and cross-station wagon. The basic version of Lada Iskra will be equipped with a 1.6-liter 90-horsepower engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Older versions will receive a 106-horsepower engine with a variator or a 6-speed "mechanics".
The start of mass production is scheduled for April 19 of this year.
