Specialists from Rosmorrechflot have announced the completion of work on dismantling the stern of the tanker "Volgoneft-239", which ran aground off Cape Panagia. The disposal of the vessel took just over a month. The work was completed a month earlier than originally planned.
Before disposal, it was necessary to remove fuel oil and fuel from the tanker. By mid-January, equipment for pumping oil products had been restored on the vessel. Specialists began the process of heating the fuel oil. As a result, more than 1.4 thousand tons of oil products were successfully pumped out of the internal tanks, and all tanks were cleaned to prevent pollution of the water area.
At the end of January, specialists began cutting the transition bridge, then dismantled the superstructure and internal premises of the tanker. The most difficult stage was dismantling the underwater part of the vessel. It was pulled ashore and cut into pieces.
The disaster of the two tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" occurred on December 15, 2024. Due to a severe storm, the tankers sank. 2.5 tons of fuel oil were released into the sea.
