The Rostec State Corporationconducted the glass test for the MS-21 passenger aircraft for strength for the first time. The glazing was manufactured by the Obninsk Research and Production Enterprise "Technology" named after A. G. Romashin.
As part of the certification tests, the completely Russian product withstood a bird strike at a speed of over 600 km/h. Such durable glass is necessary to protect pilots from possible birds entering the cockpit during flight.
Rostec noted that the MS-21 cockpit windshield is a seven-ply - four silicate glasses glued with a polymer film, providing reduced electric heating.
Thanks to this, the glazing does not fog up during temperature changes and always maintains high optical properties. The products are also highly durable. This requires the use of ion-exchange hardening of silicate glass. The solution allows you to create glazing with complex geometry, which is six to eight times stronger than usual.
In addition to glazing, Technology also produces polymer and aluminum honeycomb fillers, lapped panels and sound-absorbing structures for promising PD-14 and PD-8 aircraft engines, as well as other innovative products for the aircraft industry.
Earlier www1.ru reported that KAZ had signed contracts for the supply of 23 Tu-214 passenger aircraft.
