The Aviakor plant in Samara has completed the production of the fuselage for the new regional passenger aircraft TVRS-44 "Ladoga." The structure, created with the participation of the Samara National Research University, will be sent to the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) in Yekaterinburg for final assembly.
"Ladoga" is designed for 44 passengers and is intended to replace the outdated An-24, An-26, and Yak-40. The airliner will be equipped with TV7-117ST-02 engines manufactured by ODK-Klimov (St. Petersburg), ensuring reliability in the conditions of the Far North and remote regions. In the future, a cargo-passenger modification and an extended version for 58 seats will be developed.
The project has united key aviation centers of the country:
- Fuselage: Aviakor (Samara) — an enterprise with a 95-year history, known for assembling Tu-154 and missile systems.
- Wing: Smolensk Aviation Plant, specializing in large-sized structures.
- Tail assembly: Nizhny Novgorod branch of UZGA, possessing competencies in creating control elements.
- Engines: ODK-Klimov, whose power plants are already used on the Il-114-300.
"Ladoga" will close a critical gap in regional aviation in Russia. The outdated fleet of An-24 and Yak-40, which has been in operation since the 1960s, does not meet modern safety and comfort requirements. The new aircraft, adapted to difficult climatic conditions, will ensure the connectivity of territories from the Urals to the Far East, where there are no alternatives to air transportation.
For the industry, this is a step towards technological independence: localization of production will reduce dependence on foreign components, and cooperation between universities and enterprises will strengthen scientific and industrial potential. It is expected that the serial production of "Ladoga" in Samara will create hundreds of jobs and become a driver for the development of related industries.
