The Gorno-Altaysk airport will be modernized. The Russian government has approved the order for the airport's reconstruction. It defines the main terms of the concession agreement, under which the airport will be repaired.
The document establishes the grantor of the agreement (representing the state) and the concessionaire (the reconstruction investor). The latter will receive the rights to own and use the created infrastructure. Rosaviatsiya acts as the grantor.
The creation of new and modernization of existing infrastructure will increase the capacity of the airport in Gorno-Altaysk. This is important for the development of tourism, because from 2014 to 2024, passenger traffic to the Altai Republic increased 10 times.
The airport will have a new taxiway, an emergency rescue station building, treatment facilities and transformer substations. The runway, existing taxiways, apron and lighting equipment system will be updated.
The updated airport complex will be able to handle more than 1.3 million passengers per year by 2030. The total project cost is more than 10 billion rubles, of which almost 7.9 billion are federal budget funds, and more than 2.2 billion are private investments.
