Russian kamikaze drones have begun to be equipped with a new high-explosive fragmentation warhead (HE-Frag)with increased power weighing 90 kg. Frames comparing the new and old warheads have appeared online.
Previously, high-explosive fragmentation, incendiary and thermobaric warheads weighing 50 kg were used on drones.
The new, heavier warhead also received a belt of ready-made striking elements for additional damage in case of arrival at sensitive objects, such as power substation transformers.
The Russian military also modernized the "Geran", equipping them with SIM cards and antennas. The modernization contributed to improving the accuracy of kamikaze drone attacks.
Characteristics of the "Geran" UAV:
- Length - 3.5 m
- Wingspan - 2.5 m
- Flight altitude - from 60 to 4000 m
- Ammunition weight - 90 kg
- Speed - 150-180 km/h
- Loitering duration - 10-12 hours
