Military trick: Russian kamikaze drones "Geran" use enemy cellular networks

Drones equipped with SIM cards and antennas

Russia has modernized the Geran kamikaze strike drones, equipping them with SIM cards and antennas. This was noted by Business Insider.

The author of the material, Jack Watling, stated that this modification helps to improve the accuracy of kamikaze drone attacks. According to him, now the UAV uses the mobile network for navigation and uses the triangulation method to determine the location by signals from mobile communication towers.

The Russian military transmits telemetry data over the network, which allows them to more effectively plan subsequent strikes.

Watling noted that these drones have certain disadvantages. According to him, a mobile phone that moves at a speed of 350 km/h is suspicious, so these SIM cards can be tracked and disabled.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Rostec transferred another batch of Su-57 and Su-35S fighters to the Russian Aerospace Forces. The winged vehicles have passed a full cycle of factory tests.
