Russia has fully completed test launches of hypersonic "Tsirkon" cruise missiles from submarines, according to Alexander Leonov, General Director of NPO Mashinostroyeniya.
We have conducted the tests. There is a whole program for its adoption into service, but it is absolutely not related to the "Tsirkon" itself. We do not need to conduct any tests for this. The ships are being equipped in the order established by the Ministry of Defense.
"Tsirkon" is the world's first sea-based hypersonic cruise missile, its flight speed reaches 9 times the speed of sound. These missiles are already arming the newest multi-purpose submarines of Project 885M "Yasen-M", frigates of Project 22350, modernized submarines of Project 949A "Antey", as well as the missile cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov", which is undergoing modernization.
Earlier, Leonov stated that engineers have modernized the supersonic anti-ship missile "Onyx".
