A new complex for detecting and suppressing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) called "Sphere" has been developed and tested in Russia. The complex has been successfully tested at mass urban events.
Comprehensive zonal radar protection against drones has been developed at the Chelyabinsk Radio Plant "Polet" (part of the AIS holding of the Rostec State Corporation). The new system is capable of covering an area of several square kilometers.
The complex is designed for electronic intelligence (ELINT). The algorithm of operation is as follows: we determine the control and video signal channels from drones, after which the system automatically or manually activates electronic warfare, that is, detection and suppression of UAV control channels. The system does not have a radar station, but it can be synchronized with any product if desired.
"Sphere" has also confirmed its effectiveness on the line of combat contact. The equipment installed on the vehicle neutralized more than 10 enemy combat drones.
