Mikhail Tyaglik, Associate Professor of Department 106 "Aerodynamics, Dynamics and Control of Aircraft" of MAI, Candidate of Technical Sciences, dispelled the fears of Russians associated with flights on the Sukhoi Superjet 100.
The aviation expert told URA.RU that the recent few aviation incidents with the SSJ-100 are not related. They have a different set of reasons. The aircraft's units and assemblies were originally designed without technical properties that could lead to accidents.
Any aviation incident occurs due to overlapping reasons. One failure cannot lead to fatal consequences due to the presence of a fourfold redundancy system for critical components in the aircraft. There is no common pattern in the recent incidents with the SSJ-100.
However, any equipment has a safety margin, after exceeding which it breaks down. Tyaglik noted that the Sukhoi Superjet 100, which caught fire in 2024 at a Turkish airport after a rough landing, was caught in a gust of wind. There is an opinion that the aircraft has a fragile structure. But in this case, according to the aviation expert, the crew is to blame for its damage.
However, after this disaster, "Azimuth" found massive violations in flight safety. Rostransnadzor and Rosaviatsiya revealed concealments of aircraft landings with increased overload.
According to the press service of Rosaviatsiya in December 2024, 154 SSJ-100 aircraft are currently commercially transporting passengers. Their maintenance is carried out by specialists from 29 organizations.
