Two Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters from the "Russian Helicopters" holding successfully completed their route from Kazan to Magadan, flying 6,300 km in 4 days and spending 33 hours in the air. These helicopters, decorated with liveries in the style of killer whales, have become the hallmark of the Magadan region.
Manufactured at the Kazan Helicopter Plant, the machines are intended for the company "Aviation of Kolyma". Under a contract with the State Transport Leasing Company, 86 Mi-8 helicopters will be delivered to Russian airlines.
The flight was successful, even at temperatures down to -40°C. For local residents, this is essentially a "child's" temperature, because the Pole of Cold Oymyakon is only 500 kilometers from them.
The TV3-117 engines installed on the helicopter, which are produced by UEC, are also not afraid of frost. These engines are specially designed for reliable operation in the harsh conditions of the Far North. Thanks to additional external fuel tanks, the flight range of the Mi-8MTV-1 reaches 1050 km, which allows it to perform tasks in difficult climatic conditions.
In the Magadan region, helicopters will be used to transport goods, evacuate victims, extinguish fires and monitor the environment. They are capable of carrying up to 22 people or 4 tons of cargo and can be equipped with a medical module for emergency evacuation.
The flight was attended by employees of the "Russian Helicopters" holding, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and journalists.
