«Сапсаны» запустят на направлениях Белгорода, Воронежа и Нижнего Новгорода

"Sapsan" trains will be removed from the Moscow – St. Petersburg route after the launch of the HSR

After the commissioning of the high-speed railway (HSR) Moscow – St. Petersburg, "Sapsan" trains will be withdrawn from this route.

The Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Roman Starovoit, said that these trains could be redirected to other destinations, such as Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh, Belgorod and other cities. He noted that the rolling stock of "Sapsan" trains is designed for a service life of up to 30 years, which allows them to be effectively used on new routes.

The construction of the HSR between Moscow and St. Petersburg began in March 2024 after the signing of relevant documents by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The length of the highway will be about 700 km, and the total investment is estimated at 1.8 trillion rubles. The main manufacturer of high-speed trains will be the Sinara Group, which will work in cooperation with Transmashholding, the second largest manufacturer of railway equipment in Russia.
