At the "Comtrans-2024" exhibition, AvtoVAZ showcased a prototype of the new LADA Vesta Cross CNG version, equipped with a CVT. The main feature of the car is a gas cylinder system that allows the use of methane as the primary fuel.
Surprisingly, this car still uses Italian gas equipment. According to representatives of ATS, the VAZ contractor for converting "Ladas" to methane, they also tried to use Chinese components.
Everything looks beautiful and high-quality. But when you connect it, it doesn't work! Therefore, you have to transport parts, including cylinders, from Italy through several borders for a long time and with difficulty. Although some modifications already have cylinders from China installed.
The cost of the LADA Vesta Cross with a methane engine will be approximately 60 thousand rubles higher than the gasoline version. However, in the future, thanks to a subsidy from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the prices of both versions may equalize.
As a reminder, a car based on the serial LADA Vesta CNG was previously presented at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum. This unique bi-fuel car can run on both gasoline and compressed natural gas.
GC "ATS" has developed new equipment for this economical car, and gas cylinders for it were created by scientists from the St. Petersburg Institute of Physical and Chemical Energy of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
