Station 1-3 "Fast-flowing processes" has been opened in Russia - part of the first stage of the "SKIF" Shared Resource Center. The equipment for the camera was developed at the Lavrentyev Institute of Hydrodynamics SB RAS.
The steel explosion chamber can withstand explosions with a capacity of up to two kilograms in TNT equivalent. This makes it possible to conduct synchrotron studies that have no analogues in the world.
For the first time, a "floating" support with a swivel axis has been implemented at station 1-3 "Fast-flowing processes". This solution simplifies the adjustment of the 25-ton structure to the synchrotron radiation (SR) beam.
In addition, unique silencers were developed at the station, each weighing 250 kg. The devices provide safe input and output of radiation and effectively dampen the shock wave.
A separate building is provided for conducting explosive experiments at the station, where the SR beam will be delivered through a special channel. The total length from the point of radiation to a separate building is more than 120 meters.
The station is also equipped with pneumatic guns for conducting research with a high striker speed, reaching more than a kilometer per second. The experiments will allow studying a wide range of structural materials (polymers, glass and light metals). This is important for the automotive, aviation and space industries.
Earlier www1.ru reported that in Tomsk created a prototype of domestic silicon detectors for the SKIF synchrotron.
