At Tomsk State University (TSU), prototypes of silicon microstrip sensors have been developed for use at the SKIF synchrotron stations. This was reported by the university's press service.
Microstrip X-ray sensors have been designed at the Laboratory of Synchrotron Radiation Detectors of the Center for Advanced Technologies in Microelectronics at TSU for tasks that will be performed at the SKIF Shared Resource Center's research stations. High-resistance silicon wafers are used as the basis for them.
The suitability of the sensors was established by measuring their characteristics. The first pilot batch has come off the assembly line and is suitable for operation as part of multi-element detectors for installation at the SKIF synchrotron stations.
The sensors from our Tomsk colleagues were used in a prototype detector that is currently undergoing testing. Such detectors will be in demand at synchrotron sources and for laboratory diffractometers.
It is worth noting that there are currently no complete Russian silicon sensors for SKIF tasks. In the future, scientists plan to solve this issue for the development of Russian electronics.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the first detector for the SKIF synchrotron was created in Tomsk.
