The MC-21 medium-range aircraft will become fully Russian by the end of 2025. This was announced by Anatoly Gaidansky, General Director of JSC "AeroComposit," at the IV Congress of Young Scientists in Sirius.
By the end of 2025, the aircraft will be completely domestic, despite the sanctions. We are solving the problem of making the aircraft only within our country, and in 10-15 years, we will definitely become world leaders.
Gaidansky added that active work is currently underway to replace imported parts of its airframe and engines.
Also speaking at the IV Congress of Young Scientists in Sirius, Mikhail Bakradze, Deputy General Director of JSC "United Engine Corporation," said that Russia is one of the top five countries in the world capable of producing aviation gas turbine engines.
Such engines have more than 10,000 components, and the work to create them takes from 7 to 10 years. The transition to fifth-generation engines requires new materials — single-crystal casting of blades, high-temperature polymer composites, thermoplastic polymers, new ceramics, and specialized equipment.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the import-substituted Russian MC-21 airliner is almost ready for certification tests.
