The flight test program with new Russian components has begun on the domestic Tu-214 aircraft, which is used as a flying laboratory.
On Wednesday, November 20, the aircraft took to the skies for the first time after import substitution, said Konstantin Timofeev, First Deputy General Director of UAC, Managing Director of Tupolev PJSC.
The flight took place at the airfield of the Kazan Aviation Plant named after S.P. Gorbunov – a branch of Tupolev PJSC and lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes. The aircraft was piloted by the crew of Tupolev PJSC.
The necessary checks of onboard equipment, a number of units and components of systems were carried out in the air. According to the crew, the systems and equipment worked without any remarks, the tests were carried out in normal mode.
We will continue flight tests, further modernization and development of the Tu-214 platform on the basis of this machine, including the creation of a two-member cockpit.
In June 2023, the Tu-214 made its first flight after the restoration of airworthiness. Timofeev emphasized that this is the first aircraft in recent decades consisting entirely of Russian components.
