An energy-generating self-supporting prefabricated road surface has been developed at the Yaroslav the Wise Novgorod State University (NovSU). This was reported by the university's press service.

The new technology allows creating a dense road surface. The joints of the elements can be filled with a cement-sand mixture or other waterproofing compounds. At the same time, the upper parts of the road surface are shifted relative to the supporting ones.

In the future, it is planned to test the development on the roads of the Novgorod region. In addition, experts have also created an innovative technology for scanning roads. Thanks to it, it is possible to check the thickness of the asphalt pavement. This contributes to improving the quality of road construction and repair.
