The latest Russian A-100 "Premier" airborne early warning and control (AWACS) aircraft, in conjunction with the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system, could significantly help the Russian military in destroying Western missiles. However, the delivery date of the new product has been shifted to the right due to the great technical complexity and the need to import substitution of some equipment, said military expert Sergei Marzhetsky.
Worse, the high cost of it does not allow us to hope for a large series of "Premiers". A solution to this problem of the shortage of strategic-class AWACS aircraft could be the start of production of a more massive and cheaper tactical one, as the Americans, Swedes or Chinese do.
At the same time, the analyst noted that the tactical AWACS aircraft, which can be both deck-based and land-based, namely the Soviet Yak-44, exists only as a project.
The new generation A-100 "Premier" complex was created on the basis of the Il-76MD-90A aircraft, which is equipped with the latest special radio equipment and a fairing with a unique antenna system developed by the Vega Concern (part of Roselectronica).
The A-100 will be able to detect and track air and other targets, as well as participate in the control of strike and fighter aircraft when targeting ground, air and sea targets.
Earlier www1.ru reported that an important feature of the Su-57 fighters will allow to detect Storm Shadow even at hypersonic speeds.
