ГАЗ-24 «Эскорт»: редкую «Волгу» для «Аэрофлота» продают в Латвии

A unique car used to escort flights has undergone a complete restoration

A rare GAZ-24-02 "Escort" model, designed to escort Aeroflot flights, has been put up for sale in Latvia. This special version was produced at Moscow Plant No. 408 and used for operational communication with dispatchers and aircraft crews at airports.

The car was distinguished by its bright two-tone livery, light panel, and the presence of two radio stations, which made it possible to effectively coordinate work in conditions of heavy traffic on the territory of airfields.

According to the announcement, this copy has undergone a complete restoration and is now located in Riga. However, it remains unknown whether it is a genuine car from a limited series or a stylization of the "Escort". A total of 39 such cars were produced, and they were used in major airports of the USSR until the mid-1980s. Then the aging GAZ-24-02 began to be replaced by the VAZ-2104.

The seller offers the car for 4 million rubles, excluding delivery. After the restoration, the "Escort" traveled only three thousand kilometers and looks in excellent condition in the photos.
