Russia is developing the first universal tool for analyzing details of typical shapes underwater. The camera will help not only measure and analyze objects underwater, but also identify cracks of various sizes in ships and piers.
According to the FGANU "Sociocenter", the development is being carried out by students of the Don State Technical University majoring in "Big Data and Machine Learning" of the Faculty of "Informatics and Computer Engineering". In the interests of the industrial partner — LLC "Robotics Center" — they designed the camera structure and are now finalizing the software for it.
Equipment testing is already underway, a user-friendly interface and a practical method for sealing the camera are being developed, and an algorithm for finding the boundaries of an object for measurement is being tested. The first version of the product will be presented in mid-November.
It is worth noting that the development of a camera for measuring cracks in ships and piers is a product of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia's "Priority-2030" program (national project "Science and Universities").
