Flight tests of a new firefighting system on the TВС-2МС aircraft have started in the Novosibirsk region. The aircraft is a modernized version of the legendary An-2. It was developed by specialists from the Siberian Research Institute of Aviation (SibNIA).
The TВС-2МС has improved takeoff and landing performance and operational characteristics, allowing it to operate in unequipped airfields and limited-size areas. This is especially important for aviation work in remote and hard-to-reach regions where infrastructure is often lacking.
Advantages of TВС-2МС in firefighting:
- Maneuverability and mobility — the ability to land on small grassy or dirt areas near the source of the fire.
- Loading versatility — a water-dropping device with a capacity of up to 2000 liters can be filled with both water and special fire extinguishing liquids.
- Extinguishing efficiency — increased number of water drops in a short period.
In addition, the aircraft allows coordinating the actions of ground services from the air and delivering a parachute landing in the fire zone. These capabilities allow containing the spread of fire until the arrival of the main firefighting forces, which significantly reduces the risk of large-scale fires.
The introduction of the firefighting system on the TВС-2МС provides regions with reliable air support during the fire season. The ability to respond quickly and work in hard-to-reach places makes this aircraft an indispensable tool in the arsenal of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the An-2 "Kukuruznik" will be given a second life in the "Aviasfera" company.
