«Пятёрочка» начала заменять курьеров в Москве роботами-доставщиками Яндекса

Rovers have started working in Moscow on Chasovaya Street, 1st Aeroportovskaya Street, and Petrovsko-Razumovsky Proezd. Delivery is carried out from "Pyaterochka" stores, and the service is available for 35,000 households during the pilot phase. It is noted that after adapting operational processes and routing, the number of robots will be increased, and automated delivery will become available from supermarkets of another X5 retail chain, "Perekrestok".

Yandex leases rovers, takes care of their maintenance, and creates high-precision maps that robots use to navigate the city. The software has been improved for the project, which will allow employees to independently assign and send robots to orders.

X5 Delivery courier robots move to deliver orders up to two kilometers. The robot moves independently in urban conditions and can detect and bypass obstacles. It uses different types of sensors: lidars, cameras, and radars, which help to see objects, as well as HD maps for localization in space. Neural networks help the robot recognize objects and make decisions about the route. Six drive wheels help robots climb curbs up to 10 centimeters high.

Until now, robot delivery from "Perekrestok" and "Pyaterochka" stores was carried out only by Yandex when ordering through the Yandex Eda and Delivery applications. Now X5 has begun developing its own unmanned delivery.

Previously, X5 Group had already conducted experiments with robots in its "Perekrestok" retail chain. This year, Chinese Pudu cleaning robots worked there all summer. Also, at the beginning of 2024, this retail chain launched robot cat assistants in some pilot stores. They delivered goods around the hall, wished a good day, and were very popular with visitors, but did not withstand pilot tests economically.
