Aeroflot plans to transfer 34 contracted Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) aircraft to sub-leasing to other Russian airlines.
Sergey Alexandrovsky, General Director of the Aeroflot Group, announced that the airline will focus on operating the MC-21 aircraft, but already signed contracts for the SSJ-100 will be fulfilled and transferred to other air carriers.
In addition, Aeroflot has proposed to the Ministry of Transport to extend the "wet leasing" mechanism to international markets. This mechanism allows taking aircraft on lease together with the crew.
From September 1, 2024, the use of "wet leasing" became legally permitted in Russia. The airline also initiated amendments to the Air Code of the Russian Federation to enable the use of "wet leasing" outside the country.
