The United Shipbuilding Corporation's (USC) plans were announced to journalists by VTB head Andrei Kostin on the sidelines of the EEF-2024. According to him, investments in the new shipyard in Promeshutochnaya Bay in Vladivostok will amount to about $5 billion.
The location was chosen as optimal "in all respects, in terms of depth, in terms of accessibility to the railway, road transport". It has already been shown to President Vladimir Putin, who arrived in Vladivostok for the EEF. It is assumed that the new shipyard will produce at least 12 ships per year for the Russian merchant fleet.
Based on the experience of previous shipyards, it costs somewhere around $5 billion, that's how much such a shipyard can cost, plus or minus. We don't even know to what extent the filling will be, in what volume we want to produce some components ourselves, and so on. Therefore, very preliminary, but you need to count on no less an amount. But for now, this is just based on some precedents of shipyard construction in other countries.
It is known that the new USC shipyard in Vladivostok will be able to build:
- bulk carriers and tankers with a deadweight of up to 80 thousand tons, up to 270 m long, up to 38 m wide;
- container ships up to 6 thousand TEU, up to 300 m long, up to 46 m wide;
- gas carriers up to 170 thousand cubic meters, up to 305 m long, up to 50 m wide.
Earlier, Presidential Aide and Head of the Marine Board Nikolai Patrushev stated that the pace of modernization of the Russian fleet is significantly behind modern requirements.
