A large construction project in Komsomolsk-on-Amur with a total area of almost 10.4 thousand square meters, which began in January 2024, should be completed by the end of 2025. This was reported to IA "TASS" by Alexey Abrosimov, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of the Khabarovsk Territory, on the sidelines of the EEF.
The construction of a production building for the assembly of "Baikal" aircraft with the necessary engineering infrastructure is underway in the territory of advanced development in close proximity to the "Dzemgi" airfield and the aircraft construction facilities of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC). Work on the site is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.
It is noted that all zero-cycle works on the formation of the land plot, pouring the foundation and arranging the access road will be completed by the end of this year. The complex will produce up to 20 aircraft per year, and 80 jobs will be created.
Aircraft "Baikal"
Development of "Baikal Engineering", a "daughter" of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA). According to UZGA aircraft manufacturers, "Baikal", thanks to the best indicators in the class in terms of flight range, maximum speed and payload, is "an ideal aircraft for performing tasks of any type".
The turboprop LMS-901 "Baikal" with the Russian VK-800SM power plant should replace the Soviet An-2, known as the " кукурузник" ( кукурузник). It should increase the accessibility of remote regions and develop local air traffic.
According to the requirements of regional carriers, the aircraft received such characteristics as the ability to carry up to nine people and up to two tons of payload, a flight range of up to 1.5 thousand km, and a cruising speed of 300 km/h.
The LMS-901 "Baikal" will be able to solve a wide range of tasks: from cargo-passenger transportation to performing forestry aviation work and providing sanitary aviation services.
