Military Expert Thakur: Russian Engineers Have Improved the Accuracy of Air Bombs

Heavy high-explosive aerial bombs (FABs) used by Russian military personnel have become a «major headache for NATO.» This was written in an article for Eurasian Times by Indian military expert, former pilot Vijayender K. Thakur.

It was believed that the inertia of a heavy bomb and the high speed before impact would not allow the universal planning and correction module (UMPC) to accurately direct it to the target.

According to Thakur, FAB-500 and FAB-3000, which differ in the mass of the warhead, could cause the same damage due to their deviation from the target. However, Russian engineers have developed new UMPC kits for the FAB-3000 with larger rudders and more powerful flight control drives. As a result, the CEP (circular error probable) is now only 10 m.

Gliding bombs have turned out to be a curse for Russia's adversaries. In addition, engineers plan to increase the flight range of the FAB. They could install a small turbofan or rocket engine on the bomb to achieve a flight range of 100-200 km.
