According to Roscosmos, these points are included in a new memorandum of understanding signed by the Keldysh Center, MIPT, and the Shanghai Institute of Space Propulsion.
The document provides for:
- joint technical research — in particular, in the field of searching for breakthrough solutions in the development of ion engines and optimizing the characteristics of magnetoplasmadynamic engines;
- creation of a joint international laboratory for research and development of rocket technology — the focus will be on reusable high-thrust engines, electric rocket engines, and special testing technologies. It will be created by the Keldysh Center and the Chinese Academy of Space Propulsion Technology;
- development of combined engines, space rotating detonation engines, and new concepts of propulsion systems;
- joint seminars, conferences, educational programs, and internships for students and graduate students, exchange of students, graduate students, teachers, and researchers.
Russia and China already have one joint global space project: International Scientific Lunar Station. It is planned to be completed by 2036.
