Russian engineers are preparing for the final stage of field tests of the airborne radar complex for long-range radar detection of the A-100 "Premier" AEW&C aircraft prototype. The "flying radar" tests will be close to combat conditions, according to military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
The aircraft is being developed by specialists from TANTK named after G.M. Beriev in collaboration with NPO "Vega-M." According to Damantsev, the A-100 has received an advanced high-energy radar complex based on a passive or active phased array antenna (APAR) in the S-band with a throughput of up to 300 simultaneously tracked targets. The detection range for targets with an effective reflecting surface (ERS) of 0.1 sq. m is 200 km, 3 sq. m is 550 km, and 0.01 sq. m is 110 km. The AEW&C aircraft will also be able to see surface targets such as destroyers at a distance of up to 450 km.
The noise immunity of the product has been increased several times compared to the previous "Shmel-M" radar system. Given the equipping with new economical PS-90A-76 turbofan engines, the range of the machine can be 4250 - 4750 km.
Features of the A-100 aircraft:
- flight duration without refueling — more than 10.5 hours
- the radar operates in the mode of radio intelligence
- equipped with terminals for information exchange via secure asynchronous lines
- target designation for low-altitude targets to Su-30SM1/2 and Su-35S fighters, S-400, S-300V4, "Buk-M3A" SAM systems
