It is the first and last Project 14400 vessel for training naval helicopter pilots

Russian sailors have a new training tool. The first and only Russian ship for naval aviation Project 14400 "Nikolai Kamov" has been launched.

After the completion of construction and a series of tests, the vessel will be transferred to the Center for Training and Retraining of Flight Personnel of Naval Aviation of the Navy in Yeysk.

"Nikolai Kamov" is a project of the Central Design Bureau "Baltsudoproekt", developed by order of FSUE "Krylov State Research Center". The vessel has:

  • full displacement of less than 900 tons;
  • length – about 70 meters, width – more than 12 meters and draft – more than 2 meters;
  • full speed of the vessel – 12 knots;
  • cruising range – 500 miles;
  • endurance – two days.

The ship also has everything necessary to prepare crews of shipborne helicopters for flights and landings in various conditions. Difficulties are simulated using a number of special devices.
