Mass production of optical fiber has started at the "Optical Fiber Systems" plant. In the future, it is planned to lay a Trans-Eurasian fiber-optic communication line that will connect Europe with Asia.
Currently, the G.654.E optical fiber standard is the most popular for use. Its advantage lies in the low loss of transmitted data over long distances. This type of optical fiber will be used in Russia for the first time.
The creation of the new TEA NEXT communication line is planned to be completed by 2026. The communication branch will extend throughout Russia, making it possible to connect Europe with Asia. The underwater cable will be laid to South Korea, and the land part of the line will pass through Mongolia to China, starting from the Latvian border.
According to the conditions, the project must be implemented exclusively using Russian-made optical fiber. Therefore, this task was taken on by the "Optical Fiber Systems" plant, the only one in Russia engaged in the serial production of telecommunication optical fiber.
It was previously reported that the company "Rostec" created an improved type of optical fiber that is resistant to aggressive environments and electromagnetic interference.
