The first operation at an oil field using a domestic hydraulic fracturing fleet was conducted in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra. This set of equipment, designed to replace imported ones, was developed by "MIT Corporation" (part of Roscosmos State Corporation), which produces strategic missiles "Topol" and "Yars" for the Russian military-industrial complex. In the future, it will become a key element in the development of fields in Western Siberia.
The first hydraulic fracturing operation using a domestic complex was successful! This step is the result of strategic cooperation between Gazprom, Gazprom Neft, and the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology Corporation (part of Roscosmos). Specialists from MIT Corporation developed and successfully tested a prototype of the domestic hydraulic fracturing complex. This opens up new prospects for the Russian oil and gas industry, allowing it to reduce dependence on foreign technologies and equipment.
A hydraulic fracturing fleet is a set of equipment that allows for the intensification of oil production. It enables the injection of a special fluid into an oil well at high speed and pressure.
It ensures inflow from the oil-saturated formation by creating a fracture or network of fractures with a significant filtration area. To prevent these fractures from closing, they are filled with a special proppant agent. Previously, 90% of the equipment for this technology was produced abroad, but after the strengthening of anti-Russian sanctions, the need arose to create a domestic hydraulic fracturing fleet.
Together with Mekaminneft and Gazprom Neft, MIT signed an agreement at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2021 to create the complex. Also, according to data from open sources, enterprises of the military-industrial complex participated in the creation of the domestic hydraulic fracturing fleet.
By the end of 2023, the first prototypes of domestic hydraulic fracturing fleets were sent to Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra for field tests. The delivery of the first serial sample of this product to the customer is scheduled for 2025.
