The Sokol aircraft plant in Nizhny Novgorod will begin production of the under-keel section (PKO) of the MS-21 aircraft, the UAC press service reported.
The stamping and blanking, mechanical assembly, metallurgical, forging and pressing, foundry, and assembly shops will be involved in the creation of the unit. The production of PKO will load the enterprise for a long time.
The UAC emphasized that the creation of the under-keel section required Nizhny Novgorod engineers to master new technologies. In particular, surface hardening by shot peening. This process increases the service life of parts by dozens of times and is very important for ensuring the safety of the aircraft.
The Sokol plant will also begin producing parts for locking systems, blocking systems, and emergency door opening systems for the MS-21.
Earlier it was reported that almost 900 billion rubles will be allocated in Russia for the creation of passenger aircraft, including the MS-21.
